LockDown Browser System Requirements & Troubleshooting

Respondus Lockdown Browser

Sometimes your LockDown Browser will not function properly. Please check to make sure that your computer or device meets the system requirements for the Lockdown browser.

Operating Systems

  • Windows: 11 and 10 Details
  • Mac: macOS 10.12 to 12.0+
  • iOS: 11.0+ (iPad only). Must have a compatible LMS integration. Details

  • Windows: 75 MB permanent space on the hard drive
  • Mac: 120 MB permanent space on the hard drive

Browser Requirements

  • The LockDown Browser is a client application that is installed to a local computer or device.
  • Both the Windows edition and the Mac edition of the browser are based on Chromium, Google's open source framework.
  • Students do NOT need Google's Chrome browser installed; nor will this version affect a Chrome browser that's already installed.

If your computer or device meets the system requirements above, please follow the steps below to attempt to resolve your issue.

1. Try clearing the cache on your web browser. If you do not know how to do this, please click on the link below and find your specific browser to begin this process.

2. If you are using Google Chrome as your web browser, try enabling popups and redirects by selecting "sites can send pop-ups and use redirects" using the link provided below.

3. Visit the Respondus knowledgebase to see if they have a published article that can fix your issue
